'Home of The Hitman', 'Kiss The Carpet', or 'The Corrosion' (Very good SOM

died by hanging himself. I don't see how that makes you a TRUE goth. I'm
not really that goth, but I have many friends who love the culture and
aren't 'wannabe' goths. If it's what's on the inside that makes you goth,
then why worry about the wannabes? I mean really. Being stereotypical about
gothic-ism is about as bad as being a posseur.

PS: Peter Murphy is the vocalist for Bauhaus. Peter Steele is in Type O
Negative. And like I said, I don't believe that makes me a true goth. Keep

Hi Jess, interesting e-mail. Your conclusion is wrong. Of course you aren't goth just because you know these things. As you perhaps understand I wanted to say that people aren't true goths if they don't know the history of this culture. Most of the teen goths (luckily not all) nowadays have no clue what goth means. "Uh, I wear a black dress and fishnets. Cool, I'm a goth!" is a popular attitude today. And forget my ridiculous "goth on the inside, goth on the outside" remark. Certainly the attitude towards goth counts a lot but since goth culture is also deeply influenced by clothes I doubt that somebody in blue jeans will be recognized as a goth.

their "vampire religion"(!?) for guidance and strength. Where the hell do
they come up with these things!? Ah, do those dumb kids (and adults--can't
forget Eurogoth and Cryptie) make me laugh.
